Meet Some of Our Employees: Ed, Care New England

Personal: I grew up in Cranston and currently live in Warwick. As a teenager, I worked in the lawn care business and found that I enjoyed working outside and making client homes look the best that they can. So now in my free time you will find me out in the yard mowing, weeding and trimming during the summer months. When I am not out working in the yard I can be found out playing in the dirt in my truck, playing with my dog Endi in the yard or visiting area cars shows in the evenings.
Education: I earned my Associate’s degree in Computer Science at New England Institute of Technology. I have also taken other courses that were more application specific, throughout my employment in the IS department
My Work: I view working at the Technical Support Center (TSD) as the front door to the CNE IS department. This is where anyone who is having problems with the computer equipment can get assistance to get their issues resolved. The types of problems that we encounter in the course of the day can be extremely varied. We can have anything from a printer not printing, to specific applications that are not operating properly. As one of the CNE Helpdesk Analysts I have found that we need to have knowledge about all of different systems currently supported by the IS department. We are preparing and training for the future roll out of the Cerner system, as well as other projects and challenges that are soon to follow.
Best About My Job: The best part about my job is the hustle and bustle and the variety of troubleshooting challenges that you can be faced with on a call. I look at each call as a puzzle that needs to be solved. I am amazed at how fast the days and months go by and the amounts of information that can be learned here at the Technical Support Center (helpdesk). Coming from a family with several firefighters, I grew up hearing “Every time you get a call it is different experience” I find that I can say the same thing you never know what the next call will bring!
Best About Care New England: Our Information Services team is very supportive – they want you to succeed. They provide the keys to the kingdom and it is up to us to unlock the doors. I started in Operations nine years ago and four & half years ago I accepted a position at the TSD. In this new position one of my responsibilities was to implement the TSD on the Butler campus. Since that time, the TSD have been merged from three individual locations to one centralized support center for the entire Care New England community. The opportunities are available to the individual if they chose to seek it.
